On Saturday we went to the Baan Chang Elephant Park. I think Baan means park and Chang means elephant - hence Chang beer. We wanted to see elephants and tried to be responsible by choosing a company where the elephants were treated well and no cruelty was involved. They certainly tried hard to establish these credentials, no chairs were on thier backs, and they appeared well looked after, however we left with mixed feelings. It was still a great experience to feed these huge animals, climb on thier backs and ride them through the jungle. Shirley got a lively 3 year old which decided to roll in the mud then cuddle her with it's trunk. Later at night we returned to civilisation and cocktails on the terrace. We then went to Saturday walking Street where a night market is held. It was so hot and busy that we came back without buying. I'm sure we will make up for that at Sunday Walking Street.
