The Bond Experience

As said in the last post, Saturday was a strange day, it was hot but a bit breezy and no sun, so what to do Sunday? Pamper treatment? Hope for sun and poolside laze? Go on trip to James Bond Island? At the time I wanted to do the James Bond thing but Shirley made it sound like it was a joint decision! Sunday morning, raining, heavy. I should have sussed problems when the minibus driver tried to rip me off for 2000bht. Then the marina, sorry pile of sticks tied together with a couple of boats tied to it. Still raining - heavy. All aboard. Surely not ALL, like 53, yes like 53 even although there was not enough seats undercover for everyone. A Taiwanese woman took up the fight but all those with seats undercover remained incredibly silent while the Taiwanese and two Scots faced the weather and put up a small defiant effort. The tour guides won but we obtained free ponchos which some passengers had spent 50 baht on. Cast off, rain, blustery wind, overloaded boat. This was now my decision, no longer a joint decision, my decision. I felt bad, we could be lying in the spa being pampered and soothed but no wind lashed and rained on the trip began.
Running out of internet time, so the rain eased the sights were pretty spectacular. We saw some amazing wildlife - a mudskippers, wild monkeys, hornbills, sea eagles, fruit bats and ................wait for it ..........a six foot long Komodo Dragon (well we think that's what it was - put plainly it was a pretty big lizard). You can see the lizard thing pretty clearly but you have to look hard at the two rock/greenery pictures to see monkeys and hornbills!
Ended with dinner at the local beach hut Tom Yam Goong - see before and after pictures of the giant tiger prawn. Oh by the way - the sun came out! See you soon!
