On Friday we took a taxi ride up a very high mountain in the Doi Suthep National Park to visit Wat Phra That. It was the beginning of Buddhist Lent so the temple was full of Thai worshipers; tourists like us were very much in the minority. We walked through the crowds of people who were carrying lotus buds, incense and candles - it was all very atmospheric. We bought a temple bell like the ones in the first picture. Later it started to rain and it rained and rained pretty heavily for the rest of the night. We ventured out to the night market then had some proper Thai street food sadly no beer - respecting Buddhist Lent.
